The Waltons On Tour
We spent a few days on Ilha Grande, had pretty much as perfect a day as you can get, took a boat to what they call the best beach in the world (Lopes mendes) which included a 20min trek through the tropical rainforest (which I did barefoot like a true Brazilian) The beach was amazing, the sea was perfect and I didn?t even get sunburnt. After three days on paradise island we headed off back to mainland (or so we thought) to catch the bus to Sao Paulo...we however missed the ferry and had to catch a ride with a local which meant it was a bit more expensive (4 squids for a 2 hour boat trip) We got there in the end and took a 20min walk in 39 C heat to the bus station, we had to walk because we ran out of cash!) Tackling the roads in Brazil is so much fun, edge of your seat stuff, we got a bus from Angra dos reis (near ilha grande) to Sao Paulo, took about 8 hours! It was much like being in Speed (aka the bus that couldn?t slow down), the driver (not as hot as Sandra Bullock) refused to go below about 50mph for most of the journey and going up mountain roads next to the coast was a bit of an adventure, we only hit one other car but nobody else seemed to care!!! A few other things I thought I would note, theres an election going on in Brazil at the moment, our fave. candidates include Bebeto (good luck Bebb) and Pedro (with signs that actually say Vote Pedro!) Were getting a 15hr bus trip to the paraguay/brazil/argentina border in a few hours which should be fun after the 12 hours of travelling yesterday, the weathers a bit nicer today though..its raining
