Two days off convoy in the park. We saw everything: giraffe; kudu; oryx; zebra; wildebeast; elephant; warthog; rhino; ground squirrel; springbok (magnificent); bustard; ostrich; impala; hyena; jackal. Unexpected landscape - mostly dry and sparse with waterholes. Hundreds of photos taken. The smoke from the Angolan burning off made the sky dark and fearsome. We are camped just on the entry to Etosha National Park in a camp site with full private amenities per site. About to head off independently from the group for a couple of days within the Park but camping together at night. Have map and GPS will travel. Information booklet says " do not get out of the car".

2 nights (1 full day) at this great oasis. Will post some photos when we next have wi fi. We are camped on a grass site beside the river Kavango. The river is full of hippos and crocs. A lazy morning spent by Pat reading and Jack washing and tiding up camp. This arvo Pat in the hippo (cage) pool and Jack off on birdwatching tour. Birds now landed on the table to clean up our lunch scraps.

Welcome dinner last night at Joe's Beerhouse in Windhoek. Kudu, oryx & springbok kebabs. Today was "set up day" collect the vehicle, buy the provisions, pack the vehicle. A full day's work. Head off tomorrow on a "get there" day of driving then the fun and game sighting begins. May not have wi fi for a while.
