Of course there’s the Wallace and Grommet jibe, but, to be fair, old Milliband really does look every bit as latex as any Spitting Image puppet ever did. In answer to the questions, he was very forthright and he used his finger and thumb a lot, a bit like Tony Blair had been coached to do back in the day. He also looked directly at the camera with a steely look designed to show Britain he meant business, echoing his early “Hell I am” battle cry. Each time he did this, I felt a grin coming on. The truth is, looks do count for a lot and if your role requires extreme gravitas from time to time, it doesn’t help that you look like a comic plasticene figure, although, to be fair, I am a very shallow person who bases way too much on appearance.

Giles At school I was never one to get in fights and certainly wouldn't have taken a swipe at the the obnoxious odd-looking kid in the class for no good reason as some did. That being said, if Ed Milliband had been a classmate...............
Pepe Interesting comment Giles...a friend of mine once wrote about Michael Gove when he was the Minister for Education "Now there's a face I'd like to punch"
