There is no need to linger on this visit to Fukang, as I was basically there to recover from the Xi'an illness, but I want to complete my travel map...
I was only meant to stay in Fukang for one night, with the plan to go home to Kuitun in the morning. Given that horrific illness, which I will not give any details of at all (it wasn't pretty), I decided to stay with the Fukang guys for 3 days instead.
During that time, I did manage to get out of the house a little bit and visit Alex and Stephen's Uighur friend Rushida. I had met her before but this time we went to her house. It turns out, not surprisingly, that Uighur households are rather cool, with more of a middle-eastern feel to the place. I got to talk a little about some of the minority troubles in Xinjiang, which was certainly interesting, but I feel wouldn't be a good idea to talk about on here. There was nothing particularly contraversial said, but the Han do not like to be criticised, and there was certainly criticism going on.
On a lighter note, I also got to try out Rushida's new Dotar - an instrument a bit like a two stringed lute with a long neck and a bulbous body. The sound very cool when played well. I didn't.
And straight after those 3 days of recovery, I took the train back home to Kuitun. The travelling was over.
I need to write now about some of the occurences since I got back home to Kuitun, as there have been one or two things worth mentioning!
Until I write about those things, Thanksfor reading.
