Hey Karen, thanks for accidentally dropping by my blog! You'll probably never see this reply as i'm pretty sure this awful website doesn't end replies, but never mind.
Believe it or not. more stalkers have in fact been gained during the travels...
Have fun in Xinjiang, it's a great place!
Tim.

Hello!
I stumbled across this blog whilst planning a trip to Xinjiang, specifically to Turpan. I realised you were one of the British lot I met at the hostel in Chengdu last month, how bizarre! Hope you guys enjoyed the rest of your trip and steered clear of unwanted stalkers... Best wishes for going off to uni next year.

Happy Christmas Tim! May you have a meaningful Christmas this year.

Hey Sam, thanks for the message! I'm glad found my blog if it means you can think back to your time here in Kuitun. I think I must have already been in contact with one of the 2010-11 volunteers (dominic) for another reason, so Kai is going to start wondering how I keep on bumping into old volunteers soon!
Also, can I ask where the minority disco is? Is this the square in the park, or another place?
Sam Martin
Hey man,
Stumbled across your blog through the Project Trust website, it's a great read! I was one of the vols in Kuitun 2010/11, it's brought back some memories, it's a wonderful place.
Keep up the blogging, tell Kai I said hi, and check out the minority disco!

Hi ketrina, great to hear from you! I had forgotten that you were studying teaching, and you really have a point - the differences between the schools really are interesting. A blog on teaching techniques is a good idea - i'll have to write one in the future. Also thinking about the different ways that we're learning to teach, that's also quite cool. Doing teaching voluntarily really opens my eyes to the great work teachers do, and following from that, what you do and will do. So my hat goes off to you for training to be a teacher - it's not anywhere near as easy as some people seem to think!
Ketrina Marshall
hey tim, i feel you should be privileged as yours is the first (and probably the last) blog i have ever read. As i am studying teaching at uni its fascinating to hear about how different the schools are in china as, despite the fact ive been there, we never did learn much about daily life at school. So glad you're having a good time. would love to hear about some of your teaching techniques especially to classes so big - best of luck with your teaching xx

Fair enough, still sounds really tough. And I'm now going to download Skype on this computer, completely forgot! >.< Not sure about other people mind but at least you've reminded everyone on FB
Tim Van Gardingen
Hey Sam, great to hear from you! Honestly, I'm not overworked, just underexperienced in the work i'm doing, which makes it harder =P By the way, why did all you guys stop using skype? I only ever see Sam Sleight on there regularly =(
Sam Wise
Hey man, sorry to say I never got round to wishing you a happy Birthday on the correct day, I only got internet here yesterday. It's good to read you're settled in ok, if not a little overworked.
You'll have to let us all know if the small soft dog approach to teaching works.

Hi everyone, thanks for you messages! I can't seem to reply to each message individually, as as i have said on the blog, it's a pretty rubbish website... I will try to address some of the questions on the blog. Some questions won't really work on the blog though, so maybe I should answer some of them here.
Sam, I think your right - it sounds like me in Danish form has arrived in St Ives as i left it =P.
Sue, In my School reading is what the students do best, but they have been learning for a good few years now.
Grace, i miss our Philosophy lessons too! I also have to be careful what i mention about those lessons in China, with all the rules on religion...So what are you doing this year as you're still surrounded by annoying 16 year olds? (I'm 20 as of yesterday >.<)
Auntie Corrie, I have a draft blog started on teaching, but it's not finished yet. Unrelated, I also have draft post done on food. But you're completely right, the teaching is the most important part of this trip, so it needs to be talked about on the blog. And as for pictures of me as a kid, turning 20 the other day makes those pictures feel very far away.
Beth and Liv, The age of adulthood is a good question, I'll have to write about that on the blog. Good luck with your last assignment Liv! As for my job, i'll be writing about that in the next blog.
Thanks everyone for the messages =)

Hello! Happy birthday! Hope China's treating you well :3
