In 2018, we went to Beijing for my brother's wedding. Due to school holidays, we were only able to spend six days in the capital but we really enjoyed ourselves. We wanted to return and this was one of the major driving factors in this land-based adventure.
There was therefore a lot of anticipation for our arrival, but upon reaching our destination, the last place on our journey that we will have visited before, we found ourselves missing the family that we shared our previous experience with. We soon adjusted and dusted off our metro passes to return back to the same hotel which was comfortably familiar.
As we went about trying to see the sights we'd missed out on last time, new changes kept greeting us. The street market that we wanted to visit had been relocated to allow a subway line to be constructed as part of the extensive expansions made to the metro.
There were plenty of wonders we hadn't seen to marvel at however. The summer palace is one of our favourite places in the city. Outside of it we once again went to the great wall, but an alternate section, and this part also took our breath away.
