Lima surprised us. This city of 9 million is on the coast, buts sits high on cliffs above the ocean. We arrived very late (after midnight) and were being collected by a driver at noon the next day so had the morning to wander along the miraflores district by the waterfront. The city is clean and picturesque. Nice coffee, once we figured out the currency which is Soles - 1aud to about 2.5 Soles. We returned to our hotel, ready to be collected. We were taken to lunch by our travel agent's partner in Lima! Very nice restaurant in the Barancco district which is old colonial and now arty hotspot. The cerviche (seafood in lime) was amazing and it went well with the pisco sour (local drink made from unfermented grape, lemon and sugar). After lunch we went on a city tour Our stay was short and we had to go to the airport and leave for Arequipa that night. We're doing well overall - just a couple of headaches in Quito due to altitude and Gregory's Inca quick step!
