Howdy Americans,
We landed to Johannesburg at 6 am after 8 hours of flight from Dubai to Johannesburg. With the South Africa stamp in our passports, we are officially here! We met our tour guide named Arun. His sign name is signed happy. He will be our tour guide for 4 days in Safari. Time for us to zoom to Safari.
From Johannesburg airport to Kruger National Park is our "mini" road trip (5 hours away). The van we rode in to KNP (Kruger National Park) is nice van, space, and cozy. Some point we slept and other point we were so energetic with filled of chatting, jokes, and laughing. On the road, I feel like everywhere is so green that you probably will stare for good 10 minutes. Grass and the trees are so green. So beautiful comparing to America, this isn't what I would expect with the environment. On the way, the tour guide, Arun, bought us South Africa's pure orange juice which is right from tree. We all tasted. It tastes bitter sour and sweet at the same time, AND guess what we all drank all of them, (parents) y'all should be proud of us. After we stopped, about 1 hour and 30 mins left to KNP (Kruger National Park). That where our stomach started growling, telling us to eat lunch, so we stopped restaurant named Spur. The food is much similar to America foods. Our stomach now yells stop "stop putting foods into me." So now time for us to go to Safari!
When we finally arrived Safari, we didn't realize how hot it was outside while their season is fall now. We checked in the "hut" where we will sleep in for three nights. Jakiya and Precious, aka our champ roomies. Now the exciting part is riding on safari jeep and looking for animals and the Big 5 (lions, buffalos, elephants, leopards, and rhinos). We rode with fresh safari air, started spotting some animals, but not that many comparing to that evening when we all rode back from other trails to hut. For the Big 5, we spotted a huge male elephant, but other than that we also saw hippo and others animals. One thing, we saw must safari's sunset which is way better than America's sunset. Go ahead and google it up checking the safari sunset…see how beautiful it is! Right? BUT wait until you see it in real person!
That's all for Day 3…it is only first day in South Africa. Am looking forward for many more days in South Africa. See you next time!
Your beloved,
Kaci
