Day 5

My own beach

Woke up to yet another beautiful sunny day. Though there was a bit of a chill in the air today, but not too bad.

Im also getting very used to riding on the left hand side of the road. Seems almost natural now, weird.

THis mornings ride was a bit of a waste. I road west towards Matamata, where the Shire from Lord of the rings is supposed to be. "Hobbiton" as they call it here. Well. I rode and I rode and I rode and I couldnt find it. I stopped at a gas station to get directions, and couldnt find it, I also picked up a pamphlet with an address and STILL couldnt find it. Geezy Creezy!

So...no Hobbits today. Though by the looks of the pamphlet. It doesnt seem like I missed out on much. Apparently they re-did the whole place and its not even the same as it was in the movie...so wtf?? why did they do that? And the fact that I didnt see any other sinlge sole on the road all morning got me thinking that no one goes to this place anyway. weird.So after reading the pamphlet, it apears they "restored" the movie set to its "natural state" whatever the F THAT means. I was not aware of REAL hobbits living there before the movie. anyway...the morning was a bust

...And kept on busting. According to my motorcycle map book, there was supposed to be this awesome road riding south, though according to my GPS there was no road. I wasnt about to take in another dirt/gravel road, So I skipped out and bypassed part of my journey today and road east back towards the beach.

This turned out to be awesome indeed. I found my motel easy enough and then after checking in, rode back to the beach area, plopped down a towel and a book and chilled out on the beach for a few hours. Oh, did I mention, I had THE ENTIRE beach to myself? Totally awesome!!! The first beach I shot is called Waiotahi beach, and the beach i had all to myself is called Hukuwai beach. SO COOL!

I also want to apologize for the numerous pictures today, Ive been trying to create some panorama shots. Some worked, some didnt, just to give u all a better idea of the places I'm going. I know the pic quality on here is pretty lame, the real pictures I took are HUGE and amazing looking! Im also trying to upload videos as well. one t a time, they are coming. check em out.

Tomorrow we ride the Mystical East cape, All coastal riding! I cant wait
