Ah la dolce vita!
Sitting atop my balcony overlooking the street below after a sumptuous fully inclusive breakfast with all the traditional Italian trimmings, including freshly made juices and coffees, hard boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, olives, mushrooms, pastries and the works! Sun is shining ...
We're off to discover Tuscan treasures!
We're off on a leisurely Tuscan tour: in true Italian style: serenely and selectively! Ah! The sweet life! How to come back to normality after this trip!
The amazing thing is that it feels like I've been away for months (in a good way)!
If only you could just travel the world stopping 2-3 days everywhere, perhaps longer when that connection occurs (often).
For my first time ever I went on the Red Bus! It was great to have the information on audio guide throughout and the pictures I was able to get were outstanding (if I do say so!). We headed up into the hills to Fiesone. A beautiful typical Tuscan hilltop village. Having lunch overlooking Florence at a distance. Magnificent!
On entering where the statue of "David" stood it was quite amazing and overwhelming. I have to pinch myself and continue to need to be reassured that these are the actual real statues and artefacts and treasures from so long ago! Here before me stands one of the greatest, most significant statues of man on the face of the earth! And, it really is a representation of the perfect specimen! Wow! He must have been a hottie! Half the crowd are crowded at the front but a significant number are seated checking out the delightful ass!
Sorry to the 'arty' among you, but: it is truly beautiful!
Then,
The best part of this journey. Peter and I sat in Piazza 456 and had a couple of Tuscan Vinos and bruschetta. See blog pics!
Relaxed for an hour and just chilled, Italian-style! Watching such beautiful, sexy people pass by! Its bloody bliss! No possible price placed on this type of experience!
We had just been to a Market: pop up. In Piazza 587 and I bought a satchel made from a an old tyre! It's f***king awesome! I'll always remember where I got it! And, then went back, after a hour relax to get the recycled Italian coffee wallet! Check blog for pics!
I'm living every minute! Best holiday ever! Robyn and Mike are so calm and relaxed; so lovely and accomodating and reassuring. Beautiful souls! Easygoing. So lovely to have company and chats and sharing!
Beautiful catching up with Peter again. As always: one of those enduring "Beaches" friendships that was born one sunny August afternoon in a faraway land 20 years ago. Still feels special to this day!
And Sami: well! LOL! He's a minx! Won't tell his tales! We have been "silly sisters" too! As planned!
Tonight! ?
Just about to head out for Steak Florentine! Really looking forward to it and a bottle of local Chianti at our favourite place: GIANNINO in St Lorenzo! God bless Robyn: already secured our outdoor seating!
Ah yes!
The Sweet Life!
