tris'n'laws big adventure
wow yellowstone park is amazing. we initally went there to see the volcanic activiety that is there ( yellowstone is a super volcano, the 40 miles long 60 miles wide approx) but the wildlife, waterfalls lakes and rivers are stunning. after i ( laura) initally got over my two fears of the place a) the supervolcano wasn't going to erupt and b) i wasn't going to get eaten by a bear!! i really didn't want to leave. Tris has always wanted to go here and had done loads of researching about the place, it really lived up to his expectations and more.
we firstly went to old faithful. which was really cool. there was so many geysers and hot springs to see ( laura only though there was old faithful- ah dear) so that was cool. we saw some slightly rarer erruptions too, and waited untill half nine when castle geyser errupted.
over the next few days we saw many more geysers and hot springs, as you can see from the photos!!! ( just a warning, these are only my photos, wait untill you have to see tris'!! all 20 odd films so far!) we hiked up to the top of mount washburn which had great views over yellowstone and here we also saw some big horn sheep and lambs we also saw loads of other wildlife. from deer, elk and moose to bold eagles, hawks and bison. we were also lucky enough to see a black bear and her two cubs. but typically my batteries had run out, just had time to take a quick snap and you can't even tell they are bears!! doh!! but at least tris took a load. by day two, i'd had enough of the cold nights, sleeping on the floor and the though that bears wandered round us at night and resorted to sleeping in the car!!! we had also had a bit of a fright when we were walking up to some mud pots on our first day there. we turned around a corner to find one of those huge bison not 10 meters away- scary as they can get nasty. but he was quite happy scratching his head on a tree rather than charging at us thankfully. we were also shocked when we driving back to the campsite on our last night, a coyote trotted across the road and picked up so hose pipe??? (must have needed it to water the garden) so that was a good end to the trip. really would recommend going here, the place is like nothing we've ever seen.
