Well it was time to jump on a train and see a bit of Switzerland. It was my birthday on Saturday so we took a train to beautiful Lucern and spent the night.
Marty and I both loved Lucern we had he best day on the Saturday as we did the 'Golden Trip'. That is where you take a lake steamer to a place called Alpnachstadt. This is where we got on the worlds steepest cogwheel railway to go to the top of Mount Pilatus. Once you arrive it is absolutely breathtaking! We would definatley love to go back, possibly in Summer and maybe even stay at the hotel on the top of the mountain. Apparently the night sky is amazing from up there and also the sunrise is meant to be pretty good too. Once we had explored as much as possilble we took the aerial cableway back down the mountain, which was a little spooky as we were travelling down through the mist. We didn't see anything except the mist for a good couple of minutes! We then transferred to what they call gondolas for the rest of the journey down the mountain.
We had a beer and some pie up on the mountain to celebrate my birthday which was really awesome. I can honestly say it was one of my best birthdays ever!!
We went out for dinner when we got back but then crashed early as we were all pretty tired.
The next morning we walked around Lucurn a bit more and then went to The Swiss House for a very expensive schnitzel. It was around $60 for one schnitzel....well I thought it was worth it, it was dam good. I followed mine up with their world famous chocolate mousse, which I have to say was pretty good.
All in all it was a fabulous weekend and we'll definately go back and explore more. Maybe when my Mum comes to visit, I could definately see her loving it as much as we did.
Luv Triple M xo
