Well we just came back from 9.5 days in beautiful Scotland. We were there for Angel and Ellen's wedding but we stayed for an extra week afterwards to travel around and see a bit of Scotland.
First of all the wedding was amazing. Men in kilts, someone playing the bagpipes, gorgeous bride and of course not to mention the traditional Scottish dancing (I'm sure I lost a few kilos).
After the wedding we jumped in our rental car and headed up north to Dornoch (near Inverness). My boss in Australia offered for us to stay in her family home, which was amazing. So we used that as our base while we drove up and around the coast.
We went down and looked around Inverness and of course we had to see Loch Ness...which or lovely but overrated. Urquate Castle was pretty.
We drove up to John o'Groats the following day and then down via Tongue to Dornoch.
The following day we decided to take it easy because Maddy was getting irritated being in the car for so long. So we drove over to Ullapool, had some fish and chips and a couple of local beers before heading back to the house.
We found a really nice little Inn to eat dinner at. The food was fantastic and the lady that ran it was so helpful and came over and chatted to us and played with Maddy. One night Maddy had a little 'accident' and she helped me with towels and she even lent me a t-shirt that she still had of her daughters.
Anyway the following day we headed back down to Edinburgh via west coast.
We spent the final couple of days in Edinburgh, visiting the Castle and having a couple of restless nights (Maddy was teething). All in all though we had an amazing time and would go back tomorrow if we had the time and money:)
Missing you all...luv Mel, Marty & Mads xo
