Very warm and humid day in Melbourne by we still managed to walk around the city - the old shopping arcades, parks and beautiful victorian houses. Took a tour round the CBD on the old tram - which was free and took one hour. Forgot to mention 2 of our previous room were in a shed (a posh shed though) and this one is an old billiard hall! So rod played - alone. The place used to belong to the Lindrum family and Walter Lindrum was a famous player - so I am told ...

Final part of our journey from Adelaide to Melbourne along the great ocean road - which was built after the First World War by returning soldiers and in memory of those who died. Some war memorial! Picture shows rod surfing. Arrived in Melbourne where it is very warm. It is such a big city with big sky scrapers. Got a bit lost trying to find our hotel and then we had to find the car hire place. Today's journey took us from Port Fairy along this coastal road to Apollo Bay. Lots of stops on the way of amazing coastal features. Apollo Bay very nice and tonight the wind has finally dropped! Managed to see 2 emu in a field but rod couldn't stop so no photo!

Moved from barossa valley to Robe on the coast yesterday. Nice small town. Today moved to Port Fairy and we are now in the state of Victoria - which also means we moved the time on another half hour. This is also a very nice small coastal town. It is still cooler - they say this is a bad summer - but the worse thing is the wind. It's so strong. Apparently it is always windy on this south coast with usually the winds coming from the Antarctic.

Out of communication yesterday as no internet connection. Had a great 2 days on kangaroo island. Managed to see good wildlife. Stayed in an old homestead built at beginning of 20th century. Toured the island yesterday (Sunday) - and today. Arrived back in Adelaide and drove to barossa valley to our hotel - Jacob creek retreat - took 2 hours instead of the 1 in the instructions - it was now 9.30 pm - only to find we couldn't get in, it was pitch dark.
