After a nice tea at Crepissimo's on arrival back to Arequipa I found a lovely Peruvian wine. The Tabernero was possibly the nicest Peruvian wine I have found so far. Crepissimo has so many different crepes all with different fillings ranging from the simple (ham) to quite lovely dessert crepes, although Phil's crepe suzette was ordinary my berry and icecream one was yummy.
A late start to the next day we whiled the morning away at the Hotel, before doing some shopping and a late lunch. Each time we have walked into the town centre we have come across this Gorilla. It seems that they like their costumes to sell stuff or promote their business although we still can't work out the connection most of the time.
Helen had decided she wanted a pan pipe cd. This music is played absolutely everywhere in Peru. Funnier is that they take off western songs. The amount of Beatles done pan pipe style is quite strange. Going to get Helen to burn me a copy. Should make for an interesting reminder.
Said goodbye to Helen (she as a 15 hour bus to Cuzco, pretty happy about our LAN Pass about now) and it was off to El Ekkeko for my make up birthday tea.
On our way there a protest just appeared in the main square. Not exactly sure what they were protesting about but they were all pretty happy albeit loud. They seemed happy for Phil to take photos and it was one of the most placid protests i've seen.
Tea was absolutely wonderful with us both deciding on the trio's for tea. I had Alpaca, beef and lamb while Phil stayed with the more ordinary beef, chicken and he thinks more chicken but can't be sure. A lovely Cab Sav/Malbec from the Tacama region and I was pretty happy with life.
I've made Phil take some antibiotics to try and cure this stomach thing he has been carrying for about a week now. On a plus side we have worked out (thanks to Helen) that they do sell throat lozenges here. They are called Halls and they sell them everywhere. We thought they were lollies.
An early night in anticipation of our early flight to Cuzco.
