18 hours on a series of buses took us from Boston all the way through the state of Maine and up into Canada via New Brunswick and finally to our destination of Halifax in Nova Scotia, all on the one day. The buses are comfortable, the scenery beautiful but it still is a long time! We enjoyed a couple of days getting to know Halifax and staying in a quaint Bed and Breakfast. We did a tour of the Citadel which is where the Scots guarded the city and harbour and you will see a photo of the cannon being fired at 12.00 noon, as it has been for hundreds of years.
Public transport not being so good in these parts of Canada we decided to hire a car in Halifax for 7 days to explore the 3 Canadian Provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Canada drives on the right, so the first day was very scary as we again adjusted and got the hang of it, but as the week progressed it all got easier. This area of Canada is very beautiful with old two storey farm houses and barns dotted all over the countryside and it is all so green with spring blossom everywhere.
The Fundy Bay of Nova Scotia has the world's highest tides. The tide was very much out when we were there as you can see by the photo. An area of great beauty was Cape Breton where the snow was still on the ground and as we drove through the mountains we saw a moose and a Canadian wolf. We heard there are bears as well but we didn't see any.
