Travel Tales!
Sooo.. we are now in Rotorua, which is one of the main adventure areas on the North Island and you can do pretty much anything... In the end we did white water SLEDGING rather that rafting and it was amazing!!
The most ultimate scariest thing we've ever done in our lifes.. You are kitted up and have to hold on to the sledge about 1 meter long like plastic contraption with handle bars, and throw yourself down 4 kilometers of grade 3 and 4 white water rapids, turning and missing the rocks on the way (which both me and Tara found particularly difficult,)....whilst the instructor is shouting remember the golden rule...DONT LET GO!!! eh???! How the hell am I supposed to hold on!!!...OR deciding to use Tara as a human surfboard!!!.
take a look at the pictures and the shear look of fear on our faces.!!!.. Skydiving is gonna have to be amazing to beat this!!! We did this with a hangover and 3hrs sleep as well...forget ibrophfen.. this is the ultimate instant hangover cure...
The next morning, with bruises working there way out and aching muscles we were still glutten for more punishment and by 10am in the morning we had throw ourselves down yet another hill.. this time in a big inflatable 3 meter diameter rubber ball!!!!.. This is called Zorbing!! Fantastic... Tara did the dry option... they harness you are inside the ball and they push you down and you tumble and turn all the way to the bottom.
I did the wet one.. where you are in the ball loose, with a couple of buckets of WARM water and they push you down on a zig zag course !...Both where absolutely fantastic.. although after sledging nothing will ever seem quite so extreme again!!!
We also went caving (dont have any piccys as it was too dark and wet).. to see the glowworms..I did the Haggis Honking Holes tirp which meant abseiling down 3 waterfalls(one of 25meters) under the ground in the cave down to 80meters below the ground, and then crawl though tiny tunnels with water in and climb back up!!! Again this was mental... Tara went on a nice boat ride though the caves this day as the thought of small holes, water and caves was a bit much..(and she'd been shopping AGAIN.. and spent too much!!!hahah)
So so far New Zealand the adventure capital of the world is living up to its reputation, clearing out our bank balances and we are still up for more!!!
Next Stop Taupo for Skydiving!!! Bring it On!!
