With everything that has been happening to us this last month, we were extremely pleased to get away! We left Sydney and drove the quick way to Melbourne via the Hume Highway which is now divided motorway all the way and a really fast trip.

Because the only caravan park close to Tullamarine now only has cabins, we stayed the night at the back of a BP servo with trucks coming in and out all bloody night. A restful sleep it wasn't. The next day I dropped Russ at the airport for his quick trip back to Sydney to attend to some stuff that just had to be done and couldn't be left. But he flew back in the afternoon and we headed for the ferry, the Spirit of Tasmania, for the overnight trip to Devonport.

All went well getting on board and we were lucky to have a gentle crossing. Apparently two nights before it had been a shocker with 4 metre seas on a 4 metre swell!
