Bangkok to Koh toa
We arrived early back to Bangkok and once again the overnight train had taken it's toll, everyone was shattered and not just that I was leaving this great group of people! We headed straight for breakfast at a place near to the station.
After breakfast i made my way back to suneta hostel, the capsule hostel from before the trekking trip. but when I arrived it was nearly full, just 1 bed left but I couldn't check in until 2 so I messaged Tamara, one of the girls from the GAdventures tour and she let me stay with her at a hotel she had pre booked.
The city was buzzing with fresh tourists as it was about to all kick off for Thai new year. Thai new year, also called sukret is celebrated between the 13th and 16th of April every year and involves a massive water fight all over Thailand.
I decided I really needed a haircut and a shave as I was starting to look Tom Hanks in castaway!
I have done some really scary things since I left the UK but getting a hair cut has to be one of the worst!
I had to pay my 250 Baht before they started my haircut which was a little worrying, as if they knew I wouldn't like it and not want to pay after they finished! The man who was clearly a lady boy in his spare time, turned out to be really good! He spent ages making sure each hair was right and then suddenly when he was done he shoved a trimmer up my nose to remove the hairs... That made my eyes water! Another first for me!
That afternoon I slept for around four hours and then with Tamara we met up with the rest of the G adventures tour Or at least we tried to! Koh San road was a massive water fight war zone! We managed to find 5 of the girls but dean and the 2 Canadians, Inus and Shy didn't turn up so we had no choice but go out for dinner and cocktails without them! The streets were full of people throwing water about which at this time of night got very cold very fast! I can tell already this festival is going to get annoying really fast!
We had all planned to go to a pingpong show that night and that's what we did!
The Thai ping-pong show is world famous but I have to say... It's not a patch on the Amsterdam show me and James went to. The place was extremely seedy and full of old white men looking for Thai girls but we took a front row seat anyway and enjoyed the show! I certainly had some funny looks when I arrived with 6 screaming girls sitting right in front of the action! It was a funny show but then we couldn't believe it I saw both dean and the Canadians, everyone wanted some pingpong action tonight! We followed on from the pingpong show with a few more cocktails!
The following day I felt a bit hungover and couldn't be arsed to head out far as the streets were full of people throwing water at each other so I chilled out at the hotel and washed a few t shirts. The water fight was starting to annoy me, people taking it too seriously and some Brits as always getting out of control and getting into fights!
The bus was very nice, double decker with TVs and a toilet. I didn't manage to get much sleep on the first 7 hour bus part of the trip. The bus pulled up and the driver threw our bags on the floor and drove off again. The time was around 3.30am when we arrived at chumporn. A lorry with seats on the back arrived a few minutes later which we climbed into with our bags, the next stop the port for the boat! The boat didn't leave until 6.30 so we all slept outside until it was time to board.
The boat trip wasn't to bad! It took about 2 hours to reach the island and o boy did it look beautiful! Even though I was extremely tired I was still happy to be here! That had to be one of the worst journeys of this trip so far!!
