So after the twisty scenic drive down the Great Ocean Road we arrived in Melbourne a lot later than expected. We had issues trying to avoid the toll roads, problems with bridges due to the height of the campa and maps that didnt correspond with anything other than toll roads!! After several phone calls to the campsite, plenty of blue air we eventually found our way to the nearest site to the city which was 21km away! First night was fine but the following night we realised this was a proper trailer trash place with permanent residents which liked to go out at stupid hours in the morning, revving their engines and waking the rest of the park up! As it was the closest and cheapest we decided to stay. Plus it was a 5 min drive to Ramsay Street which was something we wanted to see, we did have to wait 3 days to get to the street though as they were filming. The weather throughout our stay in Melbourne wasn't the best but it still didnt stop us going to see the city on the Wednesday. The city was quite dull not at all what we expected, the only lively thing we saw was a protest by taxi drivers outside the parliament building. We also went to a winery not far from us and bought 2 bottles of very nice wine. We wanted to see how it all worked but as the grapes had already been harvested the wine will just sit in barrrels for the next 18 months fermenting. However we will probs get to see this on the east coast as they will harvest again while we are there. We managed to have a stroll along one of the beaches when the weather fined up a bit as well but it wasnt anything spectacular and not warming enough to sunbath!!! Best bits about it were the park with the fairy tree carvings and the waterfalls surrounding St Pauls Cathedral. So as you have gathered not somewhere we are too bothered about going back to, but hey weve been there and done that! So on to next stop, will update again soon. Love to all xx
