As Kings Canyon wasnt anything much we left after a one night stop off to Coober pedy, on this trek of 9 hours ish we had another encounter with the law!!!!????!!! Yep we got stopped crossing the border, documents checked by police, van searched with the inclusion of a drug sniffer dog, then searched by quarantine officials for reptiles and fruit or veg which could be contaminated!!! Got off scott free again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best to come though......the tornado was a baby compared to what lay ahead on this road trip and without the pictures for proof no one would believe this! We hit another lightning storm followed by a SANDSTORM to the point that visibilty was NIL! With 100k to go to the next town, storm in front of us and storm behind us and noone on the road but us we had no choice but to hang on and keep going. Due to the dessert being red we arrived intact a bit shaken but not stirred, and with a van that was once white a dusty red!!

Today we have been into Coober Pedy town and yes AC we did see some OPALS!! (we are impressed on the knowledge!) We tried to go to an underground cafe but it was closed a bit like most other places at this time of year as we arent in high season. We were still at this point trying to figure out what time it was as when we went to the information centre the time was showing 11.05 and we thought it was 10.05, much to our confusion they had put the clocks back for daylight saving hours and they dont do this in the Northern Territory. We went underground to look at how 60% of the community live, we saw both old and modern underground homes. We also went to and underground Revival Church (spiritual healing) which was very strange and we were out quicker than we went in! We also got a look at how they Opal mine and went in to a dissused mine. That was pretty much the day concluded!!

We are now going to settle down for an early night as we have the longest drive so far ahead of us! We will leave it as a surprise where we are going next so we will update soon.
