Travel with Elaine and Buzz
Friday, June 12: We left Leeds around 6 PM yesterday and took the motorway back to Sale. Although it was the end of rush hour, the traffic was not bad, and we were back at the Coachman's Cottage in just over an hour. Manon and Paul greeted us as though we were returning family. We settled in to our room and then walked into Ashton Village for a bowl of fish chowder and a beer at the Old Plough Pub. After dinner, we stopped at the Tesco grocery store to buy a tin of golden syrup, a box of Yorkshire Tea, and some snacks. When we got back to the B&B, Manon and Paul invited us to join them and their friends for coffee. It was an entirely pleasant way to end our holiday.
This morning, we had one last traditional English breakfast, packed up the car and went to the Manchester airport. Everything went smoothly from the car rental return to flight check-in.
The flights were on time and uneventful. Robyn met us at the Manchester, NH airport to bring us home.
We've had a trip that included visiting with our friends, driving on narrow country roads, nature, antiquing, visiting historic places, and a little art (for me, not Buzz). Entirely delightful.
