Week 2 4 May, Monday, Denver, Co to Moab, UT: We left cool, drizzly Denver an got back on I-70 West. The weather improved as we drove, and the scenery got more and more spectacular. We stopped in Parachute, CO for a picnic lunch at a rest area, got some travel advice at the visitor canter and moved on to Arches national Park in Moab, UT. On Saturday, we drove from Holbrook to Payson, AZ. The drive through Winslow along the old Route 66 and then south on AZ 87 is hilly, winding and very beautiful. We thought we would have enjoyed the Route 66 part more if we were driving an old Corvette!! (I think you have to be a certain age to appreciate that thought) In Payson we stayed at the home of my cousins Alan and Linda Poskanzer. We drove west today alternating driving on I-40 and Historic US66. The weather is warm and sunny...what more could we ask? The highlight of our day was a visit to the Acoma (accent on the first syllable) Sky City Pueblo about an hour west of Albuquerque.
