Work has been going well. We've been moving between the cafe and the bar and the kitchen in the pub. Its good fun and starting to get a bit easier as we begin to get to grips with what we have to do.
The bar is quite entertaining and people there are always up for a chat so its never boring. We've found that they don't like waiting in Wycheproof though and want a drink as soon as their empty "pot" hits the bar!
The kitchen in the pub can be busy sometimes! We do a lot of the prep work - making salads, cutting vegtables, cutting chicken, etc. and also a lot of washing up!
The cafe does burgers and fish & chips and other fried food so we're rather experienced with hot plates and deep fat fryers! But the coffee machine we're still learning...
We've also done a few odd jobs like stripping wallpaper and gardening. Emma got a massive blister from gardening! Trying to dig out plants they didnt want anymore and remove all the roots. Everyone just said she had soft english hands!
Last night Nick, one of Terry's (our boss) friends, took us 'roo spotlighting. So we went out about 10pm when it was dark and drove out of town to crop farms. He put a big spotlight in the window of his car and we drove around the paddocks looking for kangaroos! we saw a possum loads of foxes and rabbits! When the foxes were around Nick would turn the car off and get his gun out. He shot one but we couldnt find it as it was quite far away but then he shot one quite close up and so we drove over to it and its was pretty sore but still alive so nick got out and hit it over the head with a hammer! Most people that fox hunt here will then skin from the ears down to the nose and if you take the ear&nose to someone you get $10 (6pound). But we didnt do that...
We couldn't find any kangaroos though so we drove to a different paddock and there were quite a few there! We saw about 7! It was pretty amazing seeing them in the wild. They were suprisingly big and just hopped around the feilds.
It was in interesting experience. Quite exciting, but a bit creepy because very dark it the middle of no where. the stars were amazing!
