For those who haven't heard from us since our blog....WE ARE STILL ALIVE!! We arrived in Sydney on a glorious day where the journey to the hostel was a breeze!! Although...It is SOOOO expensive compared to us living in Thailand!!! In our 2 weeks of being here we have done so much! We purchased a combo ticket which allowed us to visit the skytower, which is the tallest building in Sydney! it gave 360 degree views of the whole of Sydney. It was AMAZING!! This combo ticket also gave us the opportunity to do the skywalk, where we got to walk around the top of the tower over glass floors and had a funny tour guide that highlighted all the awesome landmarks around the city. It was such a good experience to have in the first few days of being here!!
We have also been to Sydney Wildlife Centre, this only has animals that can be found in Aus. We got to see koalas and kangaroos (both of which were so adorable!!) they also had a stupid amount of snakes which live around here...now scared a little bit!! As well as the Wildlife Centre we decided it add to our "animal day" and go to the Sealife Aquarium. This was AWESOME!! there were sooo many fish!! and sharks!!! we got to walk through two tunnels where sharks were swimming above us as well as massive stingrays and various fish! This was a great animal day in Sydney :) followed by fireworks by Darling Harbour which were spectacular! we can not wait until New Years Eve fireworks now!!!
For us, just seeing the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House is not enough, we went on the Bridge Climb and it was INCREDIBLE!!! a little bit windy but the guide had so much interesting facts and the views were spectacular. The climb was even scary when we were coming upto the main part of the climb and we were climbing up through a 8 lane road on the bridge!!! it was so scary and insane! After the climb we went upto the lookout pillon where we could take class photographs (because we couldn't take our cameras up with us!!) This was such a great experience, it made it more real with us being here in Australia!!!
For Christmas we hit Bondi beach :) Christmas Eve and Boxing Day we had gorgeous sun and spent the days in the sea and on the beach. However, Christmas Day was a typical british day full of rain and thunder :( this didnt stop us though! we had a little swim (where the sea was 24 degrees!!) and went for a drink and food but there were some good xmas films on so that finished our Christmas :) We had really good fun though apart from the weather! We made the most everything :D
Now we are currently living in a suburb of Sydney called Surry Hills in a room. The house is nice and the guy who owns it is nice and welcoming with a great Aussie Accent!!! We visited Manly beach yesterday which was really nice and the weather was great!! however i (Mel) got stung by a bluebottle (which we assume is a type of jellyfish or something) - Dont worry its fine now :D. Today we went on 'Emmas Cultural and Historical Tour' we visited Anzac Memorial (which was beautiful!) Waterfountains, Government House, Customs House (has a 1:500 3D model of Sydney!! was class!!) and Cadmans Cottage which is the oldest house in Sydney! It was a great day, We both learnt alot of new things about Sydney. We are now looking for jobs and some other part of Aus we can work in!
To summarise, Sydney is Awesome!! we have had so much fun! the people here are so friendly and welcoming! Its great but now we want to move on and see another part of this amazing country!!
Will keep you guys updated soon
