Travel Blog of the Gaps
Hello, again, Blogonauts!
Eagerness arises in many forms. For this solo trip to England, the anticipation has been fed & watered by the half-dozen or so English expats, most of whom are visibly thrilled that I am going to spend two weeks ricocheting around England.
Even the driver of the van that carried me from Keene was born in England. He left there when quite young, but he said it still feels like home to him, and he wished he could visit more often..
Once again I'm off on a solo jaunt, with the added twist that I am renting a tiny automobile to drive between waypoints. The custom of driving on the left side of the roadways will take a little getting used to. I only hope my ability to adapt is unimpaired by jetlag. As soon as I land, I and my little coupe are headed for the motorway.
From here, the trip seems truly a mish-mash of destinations and experiences, ranging from ancient to modern and many stops in between. Some may be familiar to you. (After all, Downton Abbey and Sherlock Holmes are water-cooler conversations when they appear on US telly.)
So, from Delta's Boarding Lounge at Logan Airport, in anticipation of what's to come, I invite you to partake in the small portions of visual pasties and verbal pub food that I hand out over the next two weeks.
Next stop (after the inevitable Heathrow): Oxford!
Blog to you later!
