Ok, so I know it's not technically travelling as I am still in London, but I felt it was a noteworthy day.
I've never lived very far away from London but the longer I am living here the more I discover and the more I love it.
My sister Becky and I decided to go and spend the day together and we started off at going to visit pineapple dance studios in Covent Garden.
So for starters, pineapple dance studios is such a fun alternative if you are stuck for ideas on what to go and do. Its open for anyone and everyone! To be fair, both of us were very nervous before going. You imagine it to be the kind of place where everyone is a pro and you will be sticking out like a sore thumb and seem totally out of place. And it's true; there are a lot of amazing dancers, however there are so many classes with different styles of dance and different levels of ability so it really is worth a try.
We first tried street hip-hop and our teacher was a tiny lil lady who had all the moves called Lil J. It starts with a warm up where you all just sort of dance along with her but easy dance moves, then she takes you step by step through a routine. As we went along I felt I really wouldn't be able to keep up and started to think what was I doing here, but as we went along and repeated the routine over and over Becky and I were nearly pros by the end (well maybe not pros but still much better than before!)
Seeing as when we came out of the studios it was an amazingly rare warm sunny day in London, we walked to waterloo from Covent Garden. The plan was to get the jubilee line to Canary Wharf, but seeing as in England, if it's a nice day you really should make full use of it, we hired a couple of Boris bikes. This is also an amazing idea if you want to see a lot of London, and find some real hidden gems and your short on cash.
So off we went, cycling along towards Canada Water. Along the way we found an adorable little Spanish tapas bar near to Bermondsey. It's down a small alley called Rope walk, and in the evening it seems very busy and hard to get to the bar for a drink, however during the day there are far less people and seems like a very chilled secret place to hang out.
As we carried on we did find out that there are no docking stations for our Boris bikes around Canada water or Bermondsey station, so we still had to cycle nearly all the way back up to London bridge to dock the bikes! But still, it was an awesome day of discovery. And finishing off having a drink in the bars and pubs of London Bridge is still not a bad way to end the day!
