Second day and we had another full day of surfing. After breakfast at half past eight again we grab our stuff and Zac says he's taking us to another beach today that's further away. Although as we go we stop off to look at some crazy high waves at a place called Boilers. It's named this as apparently a boiler ship went down there and you can still see part of it sticking out! Anyway, Zac said that the waves are getting pretty big so would be too much for us beginners. So back we went to banana beach and devils rock to practice again.
Martin and Laurence both stayed at banana beach today but the rest of us went to the other side. I think that tomorrow I definitely should try banana beach as a) there are considerably less people in the water and b) the waves are much tamer. It really was hard work today by devils rock. It was good to get the practice in again, but I would love to actually stand a chance at catching a good wave and then not having to jump out to avoid all the people who all doing the same thing or behind you. Having said that it's still been an awesome day and I can only improve right? I have asked Zac for a possible lesson though just to boost my confidence and maybe push me a bit more to try harder.
Lunch time came and a man came to us to try sell us some blankets and bracelets....which Laurence and I succumbed to! But after he stayed and had a chat with us he explained to us how he has many wives and it's better this way. It keeps him busy and he never sleeps because of it! But even just four wives are not enough! Hard to say if he was really joking or not, maybe he was, but it was rather funny. And funny how here you say you have several women and children with different women and it's all good. In the UK you tell people that and you end up on Jeremy Kyle.
Second session today was a lot shorter for me. I went in for one hour but after trying so hard this morning so much of my energy had been sapped. I found I got more frustrated too, and the waves were so temperamental that it was very difficult. So I decided to stay in and watch the three lads surf. Nelly had already left to go to Sally's yoga class with Nic and Laurence also went home too, so I just had time to sit and observe Zac's impressive surfing skills. Which were really very impressive.
So now as I'm sitting writing about the second day I am just enjoying the warm night time temperature, the sweet smell of the flowers and listening to the waves crashing on the beach. It's been another amazing day, exhausting and fulfilling. I don't think I can get bored of this ever.
