I went to bed early last night and awoke by 7am. I wanted to get an early start to the day.
I decided to take the subway to my destinations, do some walking and try to balance them out, instead of just walking everywhere. My first stop was El Torre de Espagna (The Tower of Spain). It wasn't anything spectacular. It looks as though it's used as a communication tower or something. The surrounding neighbourhood was more interesting so I walked around a little then caught the metro to my next stop - The Prado Museum.
This museum was not as impressive as I thought it would be. I found that it had a very religious theme. The exhibit I liked the most was Goyas - especially the dark looking monster themed paintings.
The botanical gardens were right behind the museum, so I decided to investigate further. The cost was normally 2 Euros but because I'm a teacher, I was able to get in free.
The gardens were beautiful and they had a variety of plants, all neatly labelled. They even had a vegetable garden. There was plenty of shade here, perfect for such a hot day like today.
I walked throughout the busy streets and tried to make my way to the Sol Plaza but kept taking wrong turns. I finally gave up and just caught the subway to the Sol station and I was back on track.
I sat down for a few minutes to enjoy slab ice cream and watch the streams of people go by. I wondered home this could be the same place I visited yesterday morning and practically was deserted! There were literally thousands of people here.
I finished up my cold treat and made my way back to the hotel.
I ate, prepped for my early journey to Granada in the morning and fell fast asleep.
