Last night I took a walk around to see Rome in the evening. I revisited the Trevi Fountain and came across the Pantheon. They have these attractions all light up but there were just many tourists as in the day time. I headed back and researched the next days events.
I woke up around 7:30 and quickly had breakfast and got ready. I walked to the nearest metro and paid one euro to catch the subway. I should have done that yesterday. 4 euros would give me a day pass. I think I might do that tomorrow for the last day of my stay in Rome. I'm actually waiting in line right now for the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. I went thru St. Peters Basilica early this morning. It was gigantic and just felt like the building was hovering over me. Inside it was beautiful. It looked so rich. I went to the observation area but I think I missed something. I could not see any other entrance for the highest point so I left. I have a feeling I missed it. Signage is not the greatest and traveling alone can be frustrating at times. I guess I will have to do it next time I'm here.
I'm almost at the ticket booth. I will report on the rest later.
I walked forever through the various chapels and hallways displaying tapestries, paintings, murals, statues and artifacts. Everywhere you looked there were people. Lots and lots of people. When I finally arrived at the Sistine chapel I was relieved. I've seen pictures and read about it. But to actually see it in person was remarkable. The paintings of the people seem to jump out as if they were 3 dimensional. The only thing I didn't like were the hundreds of people in the room. Not following the rules and taking pictures. Regardless it was very memorable.
The rest of the day I napped and spent several hours with Apple and Rogers trying to fix my phone (hence the reason the blog is late). I also met 2 guys from Colorado. They were very funny and had many stories to share.
I'm going to have a low key day today (Saturday) I was invited to hang out with them today so we will see what the day brings.
Q4
