Hi!!
It's been so long since my last blog I don't know where to start!
We're still in Sydney, me and Richard are both working. I'm working near Sydney Olympic park just doing admin work but it pays well and it's really laid back, everyones really friendly, it's not corporate at all, I work in the office part of a warehouse so it's quite a male dominated area but they're all really nice guys. One guy from North London called Geoff always calls me Carls....i don't feel I know him well enough to tell him not to call me that! haha!
We've made a really good group of friends here, one girl who we spend a lot of time with, Nikki, is from Essex, she's really lovely, she's so common and calls everyone bruv!
We've been to Bondi, which is a lot smaller than I imagined, really nice though. We've also been to another beach called Manly, you have to get a ferry there from the harbour where the bridge and opera house are so it's a really nice boat ride. Manly's beautiful, much nicer than Bondi in my opinion.
This weekend we went to Palm beach aka Summer Bay (home and away) the weather was beautiful, think it got to 20 degrees......this is their winter! Don't get me wrong it has been cold but it think the lowest the temp is during the day is about 14 degrees!
We sat outside the Surf club and had a drink, we were tourists and bought Home and Away t-shirts! There's a light house that's apparently quite famous but we had to climb up a cliff to get there and to get up there was just a rope hanging down from the top, I was brave and climbed up, but the bush was too thick and there was no clear path so we gave up and climbed back down and went for a swim instead.
Two weekends ago we went to the Blue Mountains which were amazing. It's so hard to comprehend how big it is, someone told me the other day that England fits inside New South Wales, I don't know if thats true but seeing as it takes about 10hrs to drive from one end of the state to the other I can well believe it! The main attraction in the mountains is the three sisters, we done about a 10k walk around and through the valley, its was so muddy and wet. I fell over and hurt my bum, arm and my pride! I also cut my finger and made a big deal cos it was really bleeding.....Richard was not sypmathetic and just told me to get up and walk it off.
We were with Nikki who is a nurse so she looked after me!
Most Friday and Saturday nights we're out until the early hours drinking and dancing. Theres a backpacker place called Sidebar, we always make these big plans to go to different clubs and bars and then some how always end up back at Sidebar! We went to a place called Chinese Laundry which is supposed to be one of the best clubs in Sydney, I wasn't that impressed, i've had better nights in Amber! There is an amzing club we went to called The Ivy, it has a pool on the roof and most of it is open air, it's really impressive but the night we went it was raining and when it rains in Sydney it really rains.......for days at a time!
We went to see a show at the Opera house, called Havana Rakatan which is a Cuban dance show, it wasn't the best show i've ever seen but it's great to be able to say i've seen a show at the Sydney Opera house.
I love that there's so much to do here and there's always an event going on, two weeks ago there was a event called Vivid Sydney where they lit up the sails of the opera house and surrounding buildings with differnt colours and patterns and there was a fire show. Also during May and June they have fireworks every few weekends in Darling Harbour which are really impressive.
Anyway! Will report back in another few weeks.
Hope you're enjoying my blog and photo's on facebook.
