In the afternoon, we hopped back on the bus to drive out to Kaisiadorys for have a rehearsal at the church. The church was pretty plain on the inside, but it had wonderful reverb. The echo was so fantastic that you could sing three or four notes in a row and make a chord with just your own voice.
Rehearsal went really well, probably because our voices were already pretty warmed up and we were all super excited about singing in a place with acoustics like that. We were given a whole room on the side of the church to change and get ready for the concert. We shared little snacks some of us had brought because it was supper time and we still had to wait until after our concert was done to eat.
Once again, we sang out religious songs during the Mass in the evening, and then afterwards we had our concert. The Mass was pretty usual, but the concert went exceptionally well. We sang a lot of our songs because we had the time, and then even after we'd finished, the crowd kept asking for more and more songs. They especially loved our 'Battle of Jericho'. At the end of our concert they clapped enough that they all started clapping in unison - something I've only seen once before and that was during a previous choir tour in Russia.
We ended up getting four standing ovations. If that's any indication of how much they loved us. I think everyone was grinning ear-to-ear. We could have sung for longer, I'm sure, but we had to get going if we were going to be able to eat at all. We all changed really quickly and headed right out to the bus.
Supper was at a pretty desert Italian-type restaurant. Taryn was lovely and demanded a salad for me after they forgot about me because I was at the far corner of the huge, long table. We ended up shoving creampuffs in our mouth at the end because we had to get back on the bus quickly to get back to the hotel for our driver.
Back at the hotel, we laughed a bit at the football game where Germany beat Brazil. I wandered around the hotel a bit and talked to people. Clair got in late after I'd finished talking with Zach.
