We checked into a different hotel in Salta to last time - right on the corner of the plaza. We were hoping for a room overlooking the Plaza instead we got a dark room overlooking the air con units at the back of the hotel and we didn't even have air con! I asked for a different room and we got one, we overlooked the street leading onto the plaza but at least we had a view, and air con and a third bed to spread our kit on (we like some space). It rained actually rained and thundered. An umbrella salesman appeared on the street out of nowhere. Donnas phone seemed as it was broken, blac screen, nothing working, even though the wifi signal seemed good we couldn't get anything to connect. After dinner we saw Mickey mouse, Minnie mouse and Scooby Doo dancing in the street, couldn't take their photo as the camera switched on but refused to work. We seemed to have entered the Salta triangle where electrical equipment won't work. Next morning, I had another dental appointment, the news was good the dentist didn't need to see me again. He gave me some gel to put on my gum for the next 10 years - he meant 10 days! No sunshine today, we made our way to the bus terminal to book tickets out of here. The hardest thing is always figuring out which bus company goes where you want to go - there are at least 16 bus companies operating out of Salta bus terminal. We strolled back through the park which has a boating pool, we planned on hiring a rowing boat but when we saw how filthy the water was we decided against it. Instead we got on with more mundane things, shopping for more shampoo, sun cream, nail varnish, washing liquid, etc. We also visited the tourist info and tried out their internet, suddenly Donnas phone worked and the camera was back to normal. We had booked the hotel Rigidor which was a posh place but we got a really good deal and it was right in the centre. The internet however was the worst we had experienced. I tried to skype home but it was a dead loss. Our last day in Salta, the blue sky was back, we walked up San Bernardo hill - 1070 steps up. The sweat poured out. Back in the plaza there were celebrations going on, 18 year olds had just finished school for good and they were making a lot of noise about it. We ended our last day here with another great Parilla meal (BBQ meat feast). Heading North from here, we are running out of Argentina.
