After getting over the shock of waking to fresh snow we set of in search of red chairs on the Wilcox trail. The sky was clear, the mountains with their icing sugar coating were stunning. We lingered and lounged on the red chairs taking in the grand vista and feeling the cool air temperature. We retreated back to our wheels in hope of securing a parking spot at the Parker ridge trailhead - we did. A second and longer walk for the day. Once again the views were dramatic and the wind icy cold. After clocking up 11 miles on foot for the day and taking countless photos we headed down the Icefields parkway to secure a camping spot at the Waterfowl lakes campground. Along the way we passed more and more lofty peaks, the Icefields parkway is probably best described as 'Glencoe on steroids'. The campground is non-reservable, you find an empty spot, park up, fill in your registration form and pop it in the payment box along with some cash. We needn't have worried, the site had 116 pitches and the majority stayed empty all night. This campground closes for the year in just two days time. We had seen plenty of other vehicles on the road today but they must all be staying somewhere else. If we don't have an electrical hook up then we can't recharge our laptop, we can charge everything else via USB leads using the battery and solar panels. We found an electrical socket in the pot washing shelter and set up office there to edit photos and draft new blog posts (and recharge). By 5.30pm my typing hands were freezing and I joined Donna indoors for a warm and then a strip off for another bowl wash. No howling wind like last night, very sheltered, very quiet here, we slept well. Another great day in the Canadian Rockies.

Mark Gaskin By far our favorite drive through the Rockies... Lake Louise to Jasper! Spectacular. Probably driven it at least a dozen times and it never gets old. xx
