Hi all,
We have now completed 99% of our USA trip - it's very sad but exciting to move onto the next adventure!
We left San Diego on 5th October and drove to Torrey Pines which is where the US open has been held. Tony decided to play 18 holes so i did the 18 hole walk round whilst he played. He got grouped up with 3 other players who were all great company - and good golfers!
After playing at Torrey Pines we headed up the West Coast towards Los Angeles stopping in at the beach cities; Dana Point, Laguna Beach - where one of my fav reality tv shows were filmed, Newport Beach where the OC was filmed, Huntington Beach and finally Oceanside where we stayed the night. The beach cities didn't take nearly as long as i thought they would and weren't as amazing as they appear on my dvds back home hehe - silly me! It was still nice to see them though, and the amazing hilltop houses!
After leaving Oceanside we headed to West Hollywood to find a motel for the next few nights, we stayed on Sunset Blvd which was one of the main strips. However, we were right at the other end so enjoyed many a long drive up and down and high class bus journeys which included crazy tramp men pissing on the bus - very charming!
We checked out the Hollywood walk of fame to find my favourite stars - the 'Bond' stars for my mum, Johnny Depp for my sister and Britney for my girl Solene, and i obviously took great interest in all the Disney featured stars; Walt himself, Pooh Bear and Mr Mickey Mouse!
That evening we went for a walk around the 'good end' of Sunset Blvd, saw the Viper room, Johnny Depp's club and Ketchup where Holly, Hugh and the girls have eaten many a time and the cast from the Hill's! Didn't get to go to any hip LA celeb parties unfortunatly! Didn't even find a good hip-hop club, to Tony's relief!!!
During our next few days we explored Hollywood so more, went to Beverly Hills and Rodeo drive and saw the Beverly Wilshire where Richard Gere stayed in the film Pretty Woman! It was a nice street with beautiful shops but not much point walking about if you can't do some hardcore shopping! After realising i wasn't going to get a new gucci wardrobe and DeBeers diamond set we went for a drive around Beverly Hills and Bel Air to try catch a glimpse of some celeb houses! Got to see Christina Aguilera's beautiful wall and gate, David Beckham's road, Micheal Jackson's small memorial and lovely gate and the playboy mansion hedges, trees and again a lovely gate - it's all so secure and gated that you can't really see much, very glad we didn't play up $60 each for a guided tour.....it should be called the tour of the gates and trees of Bel Air.
We had another night out in Hollywood to show off our new hair cuts hehe - i had a 36 oz Margarita which took a very long time to drink but i had my 'all you can eat' cheeseburgers to help me along!
Left Hollywood today to head to Aneiheim where the magical Disneyland is, we are staying here for the next couple of nights and going to check our the Cheesecake factory for dinner tonight before going to another of Mickey's not so scary Halloween parties at Disneyland. Tomorrow will be Hooters and Downtown Disney and then we will start packing up ,as we have decided we have explored as much of LA, Hollywood etc that we can so have moved our Fiji flights. We now fly this Sunday 11th and will be getting there 6 days earlier for a longer relaxing beach trip.
That's all for now..... xxx
