Using the same coach company, this experience was a bit different. The bus we had was taped over some of the broken windows (typical that's where we sat), the windscreen was cracked, and all the seats were closer together so we had no leg room. Still, it was only going to be a few hours so we tried to sleep our way through, plus they put Tekken and I,Robot on the dvd!
I felt really dodgy on the journey, it was cold with the aircon on but I was abnormally cold, shivering but not having any clothing to keep me warm. Then I was hot and waking up in sweats, I was tired, head was hurting - I had flu symptoms. But when its flu out here, it could be malaria.
Didn't think much about it so after another short pick-up trip to Baobab backpackers, I had a nap. Still feeling crap, we took a walk into the town to get food and I was really struggling. Kept having to sit down. I fell asleep like three times waiting for my chicken and chips! Jack was not in great health too, some kind of heartburn from swallowing malaria tablet without water at night has left him in pain for a couple of weeks! He was eating hardly anything.
Earlier on the bus journey, we stopped at a cashew-growing town where I bought a monster bag for just £2. I loved cashews but because I fell ill on the journey, them and raisins I can't really touch anymore!
After food we popped into a tourist place and I read all the symptoms of malaria. I had them all. So we went straight down the hospital and sure as, I had malaria F++. The plusses can go up to five, being the most extreme and developed form of the illness.
I spent the rest of the night sleeping whilst Jack was talking to some travelling Aussie lads - Ra, Tim and Will.
