To save 500 kwacha, I decided to move down the road and sleep alone in a different lodge called Mufasa. So took my stuff early doors and disappeared.
At 10am, Jack, I and the Norwegians boarded a boat out to an island for 3000 each (13 quid). The 3 crew members took us to a nearby snorkel spot where we got to see a crazy amount of fish, again all tropical, different colours, shapes and sizes. Jack figured that to hold your hand out, the fish would come and investigate and nip your fingers! So that drew more in closer so you could get a close-up!
Learned how to equalise underwater and how to clean your goggles underwater thanks to Jack the divemaster, as I need to brush up if I am to pass the exam in Mozambique.
Even saw a few crabs about and circling the area was lots of kites, cormorants, kingfishers and fish eagles.
I almost got within touching distance of one of the cormorant birds swimming right up to its rock.
The crew whipped us up a lovely fish, rice and tomato/chip dinner before I soaked up some rays on what was actually a nice hot day for once!
Jack and I walked around the bay of rocks and found a no toilet zone which was what we were both not hoping to find, but did chill out on the rocks in the sun, accompannied by plenty of lizards!
When we threw leftover food in the waters, the fish would demolish the food, whether it was rice, tomato or the big fish skin/bone we had not eaten! They were like Piranhas!
Had another snorkel session before being taken to feed the fish eagles. The locals call the wild birds (Sherry the one was called), and launched a dead fish into the water. The giant eagles would swoop down and grip the fish out of the water right in front of us. Was awesome to see although sometimes the kites, which are only a bit smaller would come down and poach the catch!
Spent the rest of the day in the sun, especially in the hammock (was like paradise) before it completely changed again and yet another thunderstorm hit the area.
I played Boa again in the shelter with the Norwegians and Jack before we had a drink at Hiccups. The Reggae beach bar was a bit empty so didn't go there afterall (even though I was so bored and full of energy).
Despite my enthusiasm after a couple of cokes, I had a Carlsberg and wanted to hit the sack. We organised a lift to Blantyre for the morning and off I went to sleep at Mufasa, where in the day a fat South African was snoring his ass off with his gut hanging over a bed! The walk back to the lodge was wet - had to take detours in the dark as it was all flooded!
