I arrived at La Paz bus station around 8.30am and having heard a few dodgy stories about taxi drivers i cautiously approached one that seemed legit. I got a lift to olivers English pub and after requesting the correct amount of change 3 times i entered the pub. Unfortunately, a few minutes before a French girl had been mugged at knife point for her handbag with all her cards and her passport in. She was visibly shaken and was assured she was safe now by the staff, who to be fair were fantastic in dealing with the situation and helped the girl in whatever way they could. I was assured after that this was a freak occurence and nothing this serious happens to tourists here. Still i was glad when i was joined once more by Mel and Gosta in the pub. Unfortunately, the Scotland v Ireland game wasnt on tele, but watching Swansea win 5-0 in the final made up for the rugby from the disappointment.
In the afternoon we caught a taxi to the airport and after a 23 minute flight over the mountains and the jungle we arrived in Rurrenabaque. The alternative to flying was a hellish 24 hour bus ride that i had heard one or two bad stories about to say the least. I think it was a good decision to take my first domestic flight of the trip!
