hi

we are in Cairns now after our flight from singapore. we didnt get any sleep on the plane as we had to change at Darwin half way through the night so we were both tired when we arrived at 8am to cairns. We got a taxi to our hostel which is right on the esplanade beach front. The massive lagoon is also right over the road from our place as well. we were both glad to see some sun again after KL and singapore.

On thursday when we arrived we explored the town - checked out some trips we could go on - all really expensive tho! then we went back to have couple hours nap. Our hostel comes with free tea at the rhino bar down the road so we went for our tea (spag bol - not as good as mum barnes or mum hemingways tho - but still nice).

Today the sun with its heat was out in force and i got bit sunburnt again as i got excited seeing the sun! so we spent the day round the lagoon chilling out. which was full of cairns school kids jumppin in with there uniforms on as today is there last day of the school year!! another new job i want is to be a aussie life guard as they look cool as and do nothing all day!

everyone here is so friendly - just like you imagine aussies to be! and yes they say G'day an awful lot and we have seen quite a few wearing steve irwin type Khaki outfits!

we have booked the Greyhound bus where you can hop on and off between cairns and sydney. when we booked the bus the guy was surprised we had somewhere booked for sydney at xmas as he said he is having to book people in to 40 bed dorms for 40 pounds a night! he said there is no where left! good job we booked ours months ago or we would be sleeping on the beach.

our next stop will be Townsville which we leave for on sunday (6hr greyhound bus journey).
