hi

we have been on magnetic island for 2 days after being in townsville which hwas soo hot but nothing much happening there. we caught the 20 min ferry over to the island for our 2 nit stay in base backpackers and our 8 bed dorm. which is not as bad as u think and we made some good friends and had a laugh. yesterday we arrived at lunchtime and decided to do some khayaking around nelly bay where our hostel is. its stinger season (jelly fish) so had to make sure we didnt fall in. also couldnt go near the rocks or we would get sucked into the channel - or out past the bouys as there were tiger sharks there! so it was a task keeping within our area!! last nit we stayed at the hostel bar with another couple from our room and had couple beers.

today we decided top hire a topless mini car to explore all the different and secluded bays on the island (which kel is driving on the pics). i think it ruined my ozzie rep being in a pink car lol! it was weird driving after all this time. we drove all over the island - first stop was to one off the many walks u can do over the island as half of the island is national park. It was called the forts walk and a koala bear trail - where if your lucky you can see the koalas in the wild. we spotted some which were so cute.

next on we visited horeshoe bay, arcadia, alma bay and picnic bay (where we had a picnic!) and there were a load of 'schoolies' (school leavers in oz who have taken over the east xcoast and we are finding it hard to book places now cause they have 4 months off and travel around the east coast) doing olympics on the beach.

tomorw we more down to airlie beach, and are stopping in the worst hostel in the guide books, but yet again because of the 'schoolies' that hostel is the only place in town with room, plus everyone was telling us all trips to the whitesundays are booked up so we had a right job trying to book on that, we wanted to sail on friday day and night but there nothin at all, so we got on the last sail boat leaving on saturday- and one of the more expensive ones. but we are looking forward to it, we leave at 9am on sat and get back to airlie on sunday at 5pm.
