so there great ocean road starts of like any trip, petrol:check, water: check , camera:check 300km of winding ocean roads, tight corners, dodgy speed limits, caravans and tourits...hmmmm....heck and double check!!
had a pretty awsome time on the GOR, for one it was just a mellee of tight turns and steep inclines and sceinic views. maybe it was all the fresh air but i must say it was pretty damn pretty. first stop along was Lorne then apolo bay then port Campell and back to the 12 apostels and then the london bridge to finish. we started eary, maybe mid-day drove for 20 minutes stopped, drove again , stoped again and conntinued this pattern until apollo bay where it got dark and then had to work out where we were going to kip, as the wet season was upon us , many of the camping grounds were out of bounds , so we drove through the forest reserve to Port Campell where we round an excellent place by the Lock Ard Gorge http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loch_Ard_Gorge follow the links guys. woke up early morning , had a brisk walk around the cliff esges, dangerous stuff but for an experienced cliff wlker like me , it was no trouble , just damn cold . so cuppaT was fully in order. went for a 6 km walk along to the grave yard of all who died there on the shipwreck and then to all the points of interest, the sheer cliff drops, the limestone mounts rising from the sea, the small isllands uninhabbited, and the white was from the sea, yet clear waters underneath. was so much nicer than waking up next to the Hamble river, with beer cans littering the place and a few dead Chav's from he night before. Definately! of DEFO, to all those who still speak Chavesque! at 7 in the morning when i first started walking it was a time for layers , but by 10am when the sun had risen and the temperature had climbed to a respectable 17'c, the need for 3 hoodies two shorts a pair of jeans and socks , cleverly disguised as a pair of gloves were one by one taken off and wrapped around ones waist, much like a 6year old does at school on a hot day with thier jumper, or like a Dyke does just to cover ones Fat Arse! hmm!so next up we drove the 10 km to the 12 Apostels and true to their reputation, were as spectacualer as ever. http://www.visitvictoria.com/displayobject.cfm/objectid.000B0BDC-CFBC-1A5C-BC6180C476A90000/
. messed around here for 1 hour, gaining snap shots and a sun induced, dehydrated head ache untill we set off to the london bridge : . just a few images for you guys to ponder over, and make this more interesting! .
the next stop on this trip now is a 700km journey through the country, bypassing the oast toget to S.A (south Australia) capital, Adilaide. The first stop was Kingston, where after refueling and driving into the night , slamming on the breaks at 110km/h to get a picture of this....THE BIG LOBSTER!! now at 18 meters high, its a pretty big damn lobster, compared to the Big banana, Coffs Harbour, NSW, the big pinapple , Wombyee(nambour) QLD or the Big Mango, Bowen, QLD, it pretty much holds its own , a pointless Big thing that are in random place in Oz , to make people go..ooooooh. but then they are forgotten about and discarded into the depths of the memory , never to be found..EVER! but im sure ill take more pics of more and update you all!
so thye drive through the country had many straight road, just a snippet of things to come on the nullabor.
crossed the VIC/S.A border, nothing changed just the law that meant you had to have your lights on the entire time you are drivig, what a waste of petrol!! Finally arrived in Ailade, but alas there was no hostel open and there are limited places to stay the night in a Major city, Ha what a joke. so we find a place some where quiet. somewhere out the way and park up for a but , when a man comes over and says, 'Son you guys cant park here, its private land, leave now.''. no mother, the devil put these words in my mouth because i would never nrmally say this under normal situaltions. ''f*** you, mate. We have been driving 9 hours, were tired, we need to sleep and we are going to stay here for half a f***ing hour, and thn ill leave, alright, mate?'' . The guy was alright with that and let us stay fo a bit, which i guess was nice but we drove on and went to a nice beach spot , sadd;ed up for the night and went a Kipping. through one of the worst storms Adilaide has had in years, branches a flailing and wind a blowing!! the car made it, battered and bruised it survived another night. Early morning start, check in to the nearest hostel, shower, food...lets see Adilaide.
