Tom's Round The World Adventure.
Finally! A few well deserved days out of bloody Ayr! I have been really stressed out lately and in a pretty shi* mood for the last couple of weeks, so the last couple of days have been awesome. A few of the guys suggested i get away for a few days so i booked a day of deep sea fishing just off the coast of Magnetic Island. We left the hostel at 4.30am and it took about 45 minutes to get to where the boat was, and it was then a further 45 minutes on the boat to the first stop off of the day. Due to the fact i only got to bed at 3.00am it was no wonder i was in a bit of a mess in the morning. We took a slab of beer with us and a bit of grub and headed out to 'hopefully' catch some fish and to catch some rays at the sametime, seems as i am going to be so f**king brown when i get to Thailand, little competition with the girls..... i always win though. The morning did not start off to well as when we arrived at the boat we get absolutely violated by f**king mosquitos, the fact the wind was powerful enough to blow me overboard was not helping my stomach out to much. Things soon settled down though and by 7.30am i had caught my first fish, filled with happiness and excitement i was then to drunk by 8.30am and decied it was time for a sleep. I crashed out for an hour before munching on my ham sandwiches and having another go with my old friend 'Rod', fishing rod that is........ Luck did not prevail, and each time the bas*ard fish took my bait and swam away it began to get more and more personal, how can something so small toy with my emotions i thought....... I have to be honest for the next few hours the empty hook on the end of my fishing rod was the most exciting thing i saw. It was such a relaxing day though, nothing around us exept water, (We were about 20 miles off shore at one point) The quietness was something that i have really missed for the last 6 months whilst being away. A few of the boys still had not caught anything and were beginning to get itchy feet, but obviously they couldt go anywhere so they had to just bite there lip, i was loving it as fish number 2 came up for me. My Dad use to be a fisherman i said........ He taught me everything i know, but at the same time its also about common sense, and you cant teach that s**t. Early afternoon we decided to go for a swim, i had been dreaming of serenading a mermaid, but that never happened, much to my dissapointment. I was nervous in the sea though, probably due to the fact its now whale season and i really did not like the idea of colliding with a humpback whale. The sun was beating down all afternoon, aggravated my mosquito bites nicely..... I bled alot, i think i did anyway, could possibly have been fish blood from when i smacked it over the head with a piece of wood, little fella was giving me s***, i tried to strangle it and that didnt work, great satisfaction watching him be gutted when he settled down. Fishing finished about 4.30pm so then i thought i would just head straight to the pub seems as i was already half cut, i really could not be assed though, and here i am now. Day out in Townsville tomorrow, and then another week of work and i am off to The Whitsundays next weekend, i am only going down for a 1 day trip because i can not afford to take the time off work, hopefully meeting a couple of friends down there who stayed here a couple of months ago, so that will be nice catching up.
Just less than 4 weeks left in Ayr, thank the Lord..... im not religious............. But for the sake of this paragraph lets pretend i am. Heading to Thailand at the end of September for 6 weeks, hopefully meeting up with Mel & Gem, and then meeting up with Tegan (Shes off to Vietnam first) and also Natasha (Shes in Darwin) so i have a few rendesvouz points in Thailand, then after that back home for a month and then back out to Australia a couple of weeks before Christmas, plans are to meet up with the Dutch boys and also Gary in Sydney and to spend Crimbo and New Year there. Lots to look forward to................
I am going to go, ill add the fishing photos another time as i cant be assed. Hope you are all well.
Love
