This mornings mission was to find accomodation for the remainder of our Udaipur trip. We threw on a t shirt and shorts and headed across the food bridge to the other side of the lake. Our first impressions of Udaipur were amazing. The city surrounds the majestic lake and is made of tall buildings, many of them ancient palaces in typical Rajasthan style architecture. Most of the tall buildings have amazing roof terraces that provide incredible views over the ancient city and lake. In and out of hotels we headed viewing rooms and negotiating deals. It is off season in India so prices and generally lower all over, and always negotiable. We passed an amazing, palace like hotel. We decided on the off chance to enquire, as 50%+ deals could be had at this dry, very hot time of year. The friendly hotel owner told us that they were empty and after some easy negotiations, she agreed to give us an amazing suite for a bargain price. Helens negotiation skills were second to none throughout the trip so far! We had a rest on the four poster bed, surrounded my amazing antique furniture and marble floors and walls. Helen slept some more whilst Tom set off back into town to buy a new pair of jandals and some water. We had a swim in the amazing rooftop pool then enjoyed a chai tea and some magazines in a small alcove on the rooftop. The evening was spent enjoying a typical Indian meal and a beer whilst overlooking the majestic lake that was lit up by all the ancient palaces and hotels that overlooked it.
