Greetings from Sukothai. We left Chaing Mai on Friday morning and took a 6hour bus to Sukothai. We never planned on going but people we have bumped into said it was a really pretty place and a convnient stop over between Chaing Mai and Bangkok. On the bus we met 2 guys from England called Dudley and James. We ended up at the same guesthouse in Sukothai (not hard considering its the size of a pea!) and spent the whole time there with them. At dinner on the evening we arrived we met an American girl called Tempe (told me to remeber it by thinking of 10p but i kept calling her ten pence!!) We all went for dinner and drank some Sang Som (Thai whiskey) before hitting the sack ready for our long day ahead. Sukothai is famous for being Thailand's first capital and having the most amazing ruins dating back to the 1200s. The site is massive so we all hired bicycles and rode round for the entire day. Sore bums! It was also extremely hot and Tom has developed a rather fetching t-shirt tan! We wree all leaving Sukothai that night (Tempe for Chaing Mai and the rest of us back to Bangkok) so we sat around playing cards for the rest of the day. its a hard life i know! Craving western food (noodles and rice can get pretty boring after a while!) we all decided to go to the only pizza place in Sukothai. Having never seen anyone in there everytime we walked passed we gathered we could have been his only customers for days, months even! He was so pleased to see us, bless him. The pizza was amazing though...proper italian stylee. Soon enough it was time to get on the night bus back to Bangkok.
