Today was the big day! We were heading to the Northern territory. It wasn't originally in our plan to go there as it is so far away from everywhere else we were planning on going but after some thought we decided that we couldnt come all the way to Australia and not visit Ayres Rock (Uluru) so we splashed out on some flights and I mean splashed out!! So we arrived in Sydney after a long overnight bus journey from Byron Bay. We had booked our accommodation from a website called wotif.com that gives really good prices on last minute accommodation; the only thing was that our place ended being a 40 minute train journey out of the city centre in a place called Parramatta. We decided to leave Noosa and completely bypass Surfers paradise as this week it is Schoolies week in Oz. Its when all the school leavers go on a complete bender after finishing school and they basically take over most beach resorts in Australia and apparentlt Surfers Paradise is one of the worst so we decided to leave it out. We arrived in Hervey Bay at 7am this morning after leaving Airlie beach (Whitsundays). After checking into our room we headed out to explore Hervey Bay. Its a really small town with a beach and thats about it. Its a shame we weren't here just 2 weeks earlier as then we could have watched the whales as they migrated south.
