The last 3days we´ve been in Foz Do Iguaçu on the border of Brazil,
Argentina & Paraguay. Went to see the Waterfalls which were
absolutely stunning, the most incredible place ever. There are miles
and miles of walkways which take you right up to the edge of the
falls (The tallest of which is 180m deep!!) On the Argentinian side of the falls we took
a speedboat right into the mouth of one of the falls which got us
soaked. The usual pikey Brazilians found a way of makin gmoney out
of the tourists by flogging DVDs of the trip but we bought one
anyway, it is really funny!
Every time you look at the falls you see them in a different light, they really are impressive and beautiful! Especially when the sun catches them and produces these amazing rainbows which are hard to see sometiumes through the spray and the hundreds of swifts that live behing the falls! The Brazillian siude gives a good panoramic view of all the falls and the Devils Throat (called that because when the first Europeans saw the falls they thought they sounded like the Devil!). The Argentinian side however allos you to walk over the rivers and falls and get really close! Wow!
Yesterday we went to
Paraguay in the morning to see the markets whic was, well, an
experience. Its famous for their markets. I think beard trimmers
must be in fashion there becasue thats what they tried to flog me
(although not Jules). Blokes with enormous machine guns everywhere
which was very intimidating so we didnt stay for long. Quite an
expereince. Headed to see the Itaipu damm (largest in the world)
which is on the Parana river between Paraguay & Brazil and got a
FREE!!!! coach tour over it. The damm produces 90% of Paraguays energy and 25% of Brazils!!! Which is a lot of electricity!!
