Well after 3 days of lazing around on the beach we finally decided to get out and do something!
Ko Samui is a small island just a bit bigger than Guernsey! It is surrounded by beautiful beaches and blue ocean! It is off the east coast of Thailand about an hours flight from Bangkok! The airport is lots of little adjoining huts and is open all sides, quite cool (We have a couple of photos)!
The roads are small and the drivers can be a little suicidal (in true Thailand style) but overall they are much safer than both Bangkok and Phuket.
As we already mentioned we spent the first few days lapping up the sunshine and gorgeous scenery on the beaches. Today we did what was called 'a jungle adventure' which was great fun and had a wide variety of activities.
So................the first leg of the journey was on a back road, we took the long winding road which led us to a height of over 400 meters and gave us a great view over the island! Then it was on to Elephant trekking, I know I know, we've already done that but we decided to do it again because we enjoyed it so much the first time around. It's fair to say we have fallen in love with the elephants they are amazing!
After the elephant trekking we went on to see how Monkeys were trained in picking coconuts from the trees. The monkeys were very nice and we also sampled some coconut juice which was .........err..........different shall we say!
We then went to a nice waterfall, not really much else I can say, it was a waterfall and water was falling from the top to the bottom which I believe is how they came up with the name WATER-FALL.
By this time we were ready to have some lunch so we headed off and enjoyed a very nice traditional Thai meal, after which we went to the 'mummified monk' which is a monk that was mummified back in the 1970's. It's a bit weird, seeing a monk that has been preserved in a transparent tank but seemed to be quite a popular tourist attraction and a place for Buddhist's to go and worship.
And so on to the rocks which were shaped like male and female genitalia, rather amusing we thought. We haven't put any pictures of this on the album however because we felt it inappropriate for the viewing audience. For those of you wishing to view the rocks please visit www.rock-in -the-shape-of-a-penis-and-vagina.com (just kidding by the way).
Finally it was on to the Big Buddah, I know what your thinking 'they already did this' but don't be fooled there is more than one! There are also some pictures of this on the latest Photo Album.
We plan to explore the island even more tomorrow by hiring a little Suzuki jeep.
Well thats about it for now, and don't forget keep leaving us messages on the message board!
