And so after a 5 Hour train Journey from Hull to London, a one 1 hour tube journey to Heathrow, a 6 Hour wait for the flight and an 11 hour flight we finally landed in Bangkok yesterday afternoon. Over the last 24 hours I have learned that air conditioning is an absolute must have in Bangkok. It is very humid and sticky so to have a nice cool room with a/c is a blessing.
Bangkok strikes me as an extremely busy city, with lots of shops, offices and roadside cooking. In fact it is almost impossible to walk more than 10 meters on the pavement as they are lined with little stalls selling all sorts of goodies, stray dogs and lots of people.
This morning we took a boat ride on the river and I'll leave it to Claire to tell you more.

Well let me see... Today we took a boat ride on the canal in Bangkok on a long rive boat which are quite amusing to get on and off of! The Boat took us past many temples and local peoples houses which I had a good look in when I went past because I'm so nosy! Most of the houses are raised above the water and made out of wood and scraps of metal and all are decorated with pictures of the King who is highly respected by the people of Bangkok!
We made one stop which was at a snake farm/animal zoo! I had my picture taken with the really cute monkey, I wanted to keep him but apparently thats not allowed!! The zoo had everything from Tigers to bears to many many many big snakes including a python which you could also have your picture with but I stuck with the cute monkey! During our time there the staff put on a snake show with cobras where they made the cobras angry so their heads became bigger and then they dripped the venum out of them into a clear tub so you could see how much comes out.
Once back on dry land our tour guide took us to the no.1 Jewellery shop and the no.1 tailoring shop where we get good quality and good price! The jewellery shop was great, they hand make all the jewellery and I have never seen so many shiny things all in one place - one lady tried to get us to buy a 160 GBP ring...err no thanks even though it was really pretty!!
First impressions of Bangkok - very busy, very humid and the traffic is insane. Our room is nice and the people are friendly,
Well as they say in Thailand.............
laa kawn for now.
Don't forget to leave us a message on the message board!
