Hello! We are currently in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City in South Vietnam, and we will be leaving for Cambodia tommorrow. We've had a busy three weeks here! The last time Tom updated we were in Hue, and Hue was lovely. We saw some temples and tombs and went on a river trip. Viatnamese kids love us, coming up and saying 'hello' all the time, and one girl asked to have her picture taken with me?! Weird! We also saw the original car that the monk burned himself in front of, that is featured on a Rage Against the Machine cover. We also had a man who looked just like mr miyagi from karate kid on our boat, he was cool!
The next day, may 1st, we got an early bus to Hoi An...and it was very different to North Vietnam, more holiday-ish, but perhaps as it was near the beach! Hoi An is lovely and we had a lovely few days there, on the beach and exploring the old city. We got sunbunt on our first day at the beach, ouchy! An awesome thing about Hoi An is being able to get tailor made clothes for cheap!! So i got a cute coat for $25 tailored to fit me, its cool!! And a dress too =D. Tom got himself a shirt and trousers that are cool! We went to My Son to see some cham ruins set in the rainforest, it was beautiful!
On Sunday May 4th we got a night bus to Nha Trang....we dont usually mind sleeper buses, but this was awful!! a 12 hour jounrey and we were in a cage!! at the back of the bus the lower row of beds is like a play pen with stairs that close you in, so claustrophobic and horrible!! it was not fun. We didn;t really like Nha Trang, we were warned about thieves stealing for heroin addictions!! and the hotel we stayed at got offended we were only staying one night, the man said nha trang is the most beautiful town in asia....yeah right!! bit of a concrete jungle with a notso nice beach! So the next day we skipped town and went to Mui Ne a little beach resort where we stayed in a lovely room right on the beach, it was nice! we had a parrot living right outside our room!! i fed him banana =D. we swum in the sea and chilled out.
Then on Thursday May 8th we left Mui Ne and came to Saigon. At first it was a real shock as it's super crazy here!! but once you get used to it, it's awesome! we've ended up spending 5 nights here!! Yesterday was Toms birthday and we went to Dam Sen Water Park...it was way fun, except i went on a space bowl slide and got flipped over and hit my head and hip really hard and now may have concussion, ouchy!!! we went to the zoo too, got to feed an elephant!! and some baby goats =D. Today we went on a Mekong Delta trip, it was nice and relaxing! Anyways best be off, we are getting an early bus to Cambodia tommorrow!! Hope you're all well!
Lots of love,
