Well after arriving in Guatemala city, we quickly got a bus to Antigua where we checked into a hostal where one of our new friends from Mexico actaully worked, and had a short siesta. Later that night (not much to do in Antigua during the day) we met up with Michael and Barry, the two Irish lads we met in Puerto Escondido, and we out of a quite drink in a cafe with some awesome live music, which was very chilled.
The next day we climed Pacaya, an active volcano a few K´s out of Antigua, which was one of the coolest things we have done so far. After a short trek up 700m of the volcano, you get to the point where everything is ash, and after a short walk you can actually see and walk right up to (obviously not too close) flowing lava, which is about 1000 degrees C hot. So after lots of photos and roasting a couple of marshmallows and even sausages over some cracks in the ash, we hiked abit more before sunset then descended absolutely knackered.
The next day we headed off to San Pedro our current location, where we immdetialy met more people we knew from Mexico, and went out to the lake to jump off rocks into the lake. Today has been very chilled after quite a heavy one last night, so we are just going out to play som pool and watch some films at a bar, in order to wake up tomorrow where we will probably going kayaking round parts of the lake which will be awesome. Then back to antigua for 1 night and to get the bus to El Salvador and then through Honduras to Nicaragua, our next major destination, hopefully by Thursday or Friday..
